Malta Paralympic Committee (MPC) invested in a range of equipment for strength and conditioning, cardiovascular activity, mobility and power exercises to support Para athletes training at the Dar Tal-Providenza indoor sports hall and gym facilities.
Powering Through Life (project reference VOPS A4.04.2024) is a project delivered by MPC thanks to the funding provided through the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme (VOPS) managed by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS) and supported by the Ministry for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector (MIV).
The equipment has been installed fur use at the Dar Tal-Providenza (DTP) indoor sports hall and gym facilities in Siġġiewi, in collaboration with DTP and Siggiewi Rowing Club (SRC). SRC offers training opportunities in strength & conditioning, complimenting the indoor rowing training offered by the club at the same facilities. Over the years, SRC has worked closely with MPC to open up opportunities and enhance accessibility to sports for persons of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. This concentrated effort has resulted in a gradual increase in the number of individuals with a range of diverse physical, visual, hearing and intellectual impairments regularly participating in training and competitions organised by SRC. Importantly, this investment has also supported an increase in female participation.
MPC is proud to partner with an inclusive sports club on this initiative, aimed at enabling athletes to train in an inclusive environment and sports community and bringing together people with and without disabilities. MPC looks forward to the next phase of development and the longer-term ambitions it aspires to realise via the investment made through the Powering through Life Project. Please contact us via info@paralympic.mt for more information on how to enrol in indoor rowing sessions or strength & conditioning sessions delivered by Siggiewi Rowing Club.

MPC expresses it sincere gratitude to the entire team at the Malta Council for the Voluntary Council (MCVS) for their continued support, guidance and professionalism throughout the project.
