Malta Paralympic Committee (MPC) hosted a fun evening of sport activities and more to bring together athletes, coaches, families and friends from the Para sport community.
The event, organised on Friday 8th August at the Marsa Sports Club, saw athletes with physical, visual and intellectual impairments participate in an evening of Para Boccia, indoor Para Rowing, obstacles courses and other sport activities, hosted in collaboration with representatives from Siġġiewi Rowing Club and Pocket Rockets. The aim of the event was to bring together athletes of different ages, varying disabilities and from multiple sports to enjoy a fun evening in a friendly and inclusive environment, and to connect with individuals from the Para sport community. The activities were followed by a BBQ dinner by the pool deck at the Marsa Sports Club.
Commenting on the event, MPC highlighted that: “Hosting our first-ever community event reflects our renewed strategic action plan announced at our AGM back in June of this year. Our aspiration is to enable an inclusive and supportive community for individuals with and without disabilities to share experiences, best practices for overcoming obstacles and to simply create an enjoyable space in which long-lasting friendships and mentorships can be fostered through Para sport. Although we are all unique, we are strong together and bound by the common denominator shared amongst us, being the Paralympic values of determination, courage, inspiration and inclusion.”
MPC looks forward to hosting community-based events in the future, and is open to collaborating with other organisations, sport entities, corporates and individuals who share its vision and strategic objectives.
